FRA Women Lead

For International Women’s Day 2024, we feature FRA initiatives driven by women in different offices and teams to build strong and active networks among women in our industry.

Women hold integral roles at all levels of FRA’s global team. As a firm, we are happy to support them in creating positive settings to connect with the people they work with, in and out of FRA.

Launching the FRA Women's Network

“I’ve had the privilege of working with many accomplished women in my eleven years at FRA internally and on client engagements. When we held our first Women’s Network dinner in London five years ago, my aspiration was relatively simple – to carve out time from our busy schedule to support fellow professionals in building strong and meaningful relationships that will endure throughout our careers.

To date, we’ve held expert-led roundtables and speaking events, as well as breakfasts and even a terrarium building evening. Recognizing the many pressures that professional women face at home and in the office, we’ve found that varying our events formats made it more inclusive, and equally important, fun!

Reflecting on the journey and achievements since the inception of this network, it’s been heartening and rewarding to see enthusiasm grow from both FRA hosts and our invited guests.”

Building networks that endure

“At the earlier stages of your career, stepping into the world of professional networking can be daunting. Attending industry events and accompanying senior FRA partners to meetings gave me a chance to make that first point of contact and develop my own style. Being enabled to arrange FRA Women’s Network events in a more informal setting was an opportunity to take the next step in developing meaningful relationships with our getting to know industry peers and the clients as individuals.

I was an associate director when my colleagues and I arranged our first mid-level women’s event in Washington DC. Senior FRA partners gave us their full support in spreading the word to their network at the time. Now, as a director, my peers and I have our own corporate and law firm contacts who we’ve gotten to know over the years—some who attended the first event. Having FRA’s encouragement to invest in these relationships has allowed us to build a network that we can grow with.

Going forward, I hope to support my junior colleagues to find an approach that suits them and to help lower any barriers they might encounter in the process.”

Championing industry associations

“It is an honour to be elected to the Education sub-committee of the Female Fraud Forum. I look forward to collaborating with fellow compliance and forensic investigation professionals to plan and deliver transformative educational content for our diverse membership.

We aim to elevate women in their professional lives, fostering awareness of inequalities and identifying areas for positive development in the workplace. I am passionately committed to actively collaborating on initiatives that champion gender diversity and inclusion. As a mother raising two beautiful girls, I am deeply committed to initiatives that contribute to a better, more equal world for both current and future generations. Moreover, I am eager to participate in initiatives that underscore our collective commitment to making a positive impact in the broader community.

FRA is an organisation that actively supports gender equality in the workplace, fortifying my understanding of inclusive practices. This has equipped me to contribute effectively to educational initiatives that resonate with the FFF’s mission to empower women. Collaborating with this amazing group of women, I am confident that together, we can further the mission of empowering women in our industry!”

Dedicated space for the next generation

Beyond providing opportunities uniquely for women, we also celebrate FRA colleagues who find opportunities to build relationships among the next generation of leaders in our field.

“FRA first launched the Junior Compliance Network in Paris with Norton Rose Fulbright in 2015. Our predecessors saw an important need for peers in the first five years of their careers in compliance – whether in-house, corporate or on the consulting side – to share knowledge and experience. Together with my colleague Ming Lu, we are happy to be the current drivers of this initiative on the FRA side.

Many networks exist for experienced compliance professionals and those in adjacent fields. We wanted to pick up this initiative after a Covid-related hiatus because we know from our own perspective how beneficial it is for junior professionals to share their experiences, discuss regulatory and technological developments, and build relationships.”
